I remember when I wanted to get into an accelerated junior high, you had to have done some good things in elementary school to even get a chance of being chosen 6 from each elementary school to get into this school. The school was dumpy, of course no AC then, no gyms for gym, which was Ok for me.
Then they decided even smart kids needed some gym and we had to walk once a week about 6 blocks to another school where they let us get some physical activity. In rain or snow, we walked and we all hated it, but that was the rule.
The kids now days have high class indoor floors to practice their activities on and some have pools in there to swim and learn to swim.

Oh these were the olden days and we survived and prospered, because we had the will to win and to be a winner.
