Your Garden Grows As Your Life Prospers
Mom loved fresh flowers, she always said she wanted to work in a florist shop when she graduated high school
When I was a little girl, Mom told me how she loved flowers and many times when I was married, I would stop in the grocery store who was now selling them. I would stop and get her a bunch. Then I started to buy her a plant because they lasted for months or a year if you watered them daily.
I had a school friend when I was in elementary school, I would walk by a florist store called Norman Holt Florists. His niece was in my 4th grade. One day, she asked me if I wanted to see the flowers how they were when they were bought in for the morning. I was excited to see them. I could see them all spread out on the counters and most were the loose ones and in another room were the shelves where ones in pots where they waited to be chosen to have a new home.
When I was looking around, Martha's aunt asked me did I want a potted plant for my Mom for Mother's day.

I was so excited, I said I had ten dollars with me because I worked at the local library on Saturdays where I made five dollars putting away books. What a boring job. She said she could deliver it for me to Mom because she was going to the neighborhood for lots of deliveries. I said I only had 10 dollars. She said it was good enough for the sale and delivery. She gave me a small card to write on it that it was from me.
Mom was so excited when it was delivered, a green plant in a nice pot and a red ribbon with a heart stuck in the pot. Martha's aunt supervised the plant and I was so proud to give Mom a lasting living thing.

When she got it, all the neighbors admired it and they said what a fine daughter Mom had.
