2020 U.S. Census Results: Changing Demographics Of Falls Church
The 2020 census shows an America that is becoming more diverse, with the Hispanic/Latino population growing faster than any other.
FALLS CHURCH, VA — The last 10 years have marked a dramatic shift in the demographic makeup of the United States, with a marked shrinkage of the white population and the rapid growth of the Hispanic/Latino community.
These changes were reflected in Falls Church, where the city's white population fell to 69.7 percent of the city's population in 2020 from 79.6 percent in 2010, while the city's Hispanic/Latino population grew to 10.4 percent in 2020 from 9.0 percent in 2010.
Overall, Falls Church's population grew from 12,332 people in 2010 to 14,658 people in 2020.

In Virginia, the white population fell by 277,996 people (-5.1 percent), while the Hispanic/Latino population grew by 276,924 people (43.8 percent).
Falls Church also showed in increase in the number of people who identified themselves as multiracial, although the reasons are complex. Experts say the increase reflects changes in the way people identify themselves as well the number of children born to parents of mixed races or ethnicities, along with changes in the wording of census forms themselves.

In 2020, 11.9 percent of Falls Church's population, or 1,737 people, identified themselves as being two or more races compared to 4.0 percent, or 489 people, in 2010.
In Virginia, the number of people who identified themselves as being two or more races grew by 472,307, or 202.4 percent.
The Asian population in Falls Church totaled 1,499 people in 2020. As a percentage of Falls Church's overall population, the Asian population grew to 10.2 percent in 2020 from 9.4 percent in 2010.
The Black population in Falls Church totaled 576 people in 2020. As a percentage of Falls Church's overall population, the Black population dropped to 3.9 percent in 2020 from 4.3 percent in 2010.
