Tuesday October 25 is the last day that a voter can request an absentee ballot by mail with some assurance that it can be returned by Election Day. Although the legal deadline for making a request is November 1, the Registrar notes that those ballots rarely get returned in time to be counted by the deadline for the election.

Voter registration for this year’s election closed on October 17.

Non-partisan comprehensive information about the election is available at the League of Women Voters’ comprehensive voters’ guide at www.vote411.org. After a user enters his address, the voter can retrieve information about his polling place and the choices that will be on his ballot. (This address data is not retained by the League.) In the City of Falls Church, voters will consider candidates for president and Congress, as well as two proposed amendments to the Virginia Constitution and a referendum on a proposed $8.7 million bond for the Falls Church library. The League site includes answers to a series of questions posed to the candidates and information about both sides of the ballot questions.
