Absentee Voting In Person Now Open in City of Falls Church

Persons wishing to cast an absentee ballot in person for the November 8 election can now do so at the Registrar’s office in City Hall, 300 Park Avenue, Suite 101 East, the League of Women Voters of Falls Church reminds local residents.

In addition to regular business hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays, the Registar’s office will be open until 7 p.m. on Thursday October 27 and November 3 and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday October 29 and November 5, which is the last day in which a voter can cast an absentee ballot in person.

Registered voters must meet one of the 19 eligibility requirements listed on the Virginia Absentee Ballot Application to vote absentee. Persons casting an absentee ballot in person must bring an acceptable form of personal identification when they vote.

Tuesday October 25 is the last day that a voter can request an absentee ballot by mail with some assurance that it can be returned by Election Day. Although the legal deadline for making a request is November 1, the Registrar notes that those ballots rarely get returned in time to be counted by the deadline for the election.

Voter registration for this year’s election closed on October 17.

After a user enters his address, the voter can retrieve information about his polling place and the choices that will be on his ballot. (This address data is not retained by the League.) In the City of Falls Church, voters will consider candidates for president and Congress, as well as two proposed amendments to the Virginia Constitution and a referendum on a proposed $8.7 million bond for the Falls Church library.
