An Afternoon of Cultural Enchantment
Concert Performance by soprano Sofia Soloviy and pianist Oksana Skidan on Sat, Nov 29 at 3pm at St. George's Episcopal Church

Enjoy a rich musical program featuring compositions from Ukraine and other nations on Saturday, November 29 at 3pm at St. George’s Episcopal Church, 915 N. Oakland St., Arlington, VA (on the Orange and Silver Line - Virginia Square Metro).
Pianist Oksana Skidan and soprano Sofia Soloviy will be performing.
Oksana Skidan, a graduate of the Donetsk Music Acadamy and Ph D in Music Performance from the Eastman School of Music.

Sofia Soloviy was born in L'viv, Ukraine. She graduated from the Lysenko Music Academy and then continued her music education in Italy where she now lives and performs on Operatic stages of Europe such as Rome, Venice and Florence as well as the Royal Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Teatro Real in Madrid and many others. Her recent engagements include Poppea in L’Incoronazione di Poppea at the Teatro Real Madrid, Nedda in I Pagliacci and Lucrezia Contarini in I Due Foscari at the Royal Opera of Wallonie in Liege.
She has recently performed Schumann’s Requiem in Utrecht and at the Concertgebouw, Amsterdam with the Netherlands Radio Orchestra.Engagements last season included the title role in Alceste at the Teatro Real Madrid, Nedda in Pagliacci at the Teatro Petruzzelli, Bari and Elena in Vespri Siciliani in Reggio Emilia, Modena and Piacenza.

During the 2014/15 season she sings the Countess in Le Nozze di Figaro at the Teatro Real Madrid and will return there next season for the title role in Handel’s Alcina. She has collaborated with such luminaries as Franz Brueggen and Gabriele Ferro and recently performed in the Brahms' German Requiem under the direction of John Axelrod.
Her involvement has been significant in the recording studio and in the context of live recordings. Her discography includes recordings of Salvator Rosa by Gomes (Dynamic), Boccherini's Stabat Mater, The Return of Ulysses by Monteverdi (Brilliant Classics), Idomeneo by Mozart-Strauss (Dynamic), Salome by Strauss (Dynamic), Lodoiska by Cherubini (Polskie Radio) and a DVD of Anna Bolena by Donizetti (Dynamic).
