Falls Church Man Sentenced In Child Porn Distribution Case

Devin Sinclair Buries of Falls Church was extradited from Ukraine and sentenced for distributing child sexual abuse material, reports say.

FALLS CHURCH, VA — A Falls Church man was sentenced Wednesday to 10 years in prison for attempted distribution of child sexual abuse material, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia.

Federal prosecutors identified the defendant as Devin Sinclair Buries, 49. In a press release, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said court documents show Buries shared his collection with other users on BitTorrent. The sentencing was announced March 18 in Alexandria.

According to court documents, law enforcement searched Buries’ residence on Nov. 15, 2023, and seized a desktop computer and Buries’ cellphone. Prosecutors said Buries built the computer, which contained six hard drives. One was the operating hard drive, and the other five contained child sexual abuse material.

Prosecutors said Buries had more than 200 videos and more than 19,000 images of child sexual abuse material. After his arrest, Buries fled to Ukraine. He was returned to the U.S. and arrested Sept. 22, 2025, on federal charges.

Authorities said Buries pleaded guilty on Dec. 18, 2025. The case was investigated by the FBI Washington Field Office with assistance from the Fairfax County Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Service, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

The Justice Department’s Office of International Affairs worked with the government of Ukraine to secure Buries’ arrest and extradition last September, the release said. Assistant U.S. Attorney Laura D. Withers prosecuted the case.

Federal prosecutors said the case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide Justice Department initiative launched in May 2006 to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse. According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the initiative brings together federal, state and local resources to locate, apprehend and prosecute people who exploit children through the internet, and to identify and rescue victims.
