Blizzard 2016: Parking Restrictions and Tips During Blizzard
Includes special parking restrictions for Poplar Drive and Gibson Street in Falls Church.

FALLS CHURCH, VA -- Public Works crews will start plowing when two inches of snow are on the ground. The City’s Snow Emergency starts at noon on Friday, Jan. 22, which means there is no parking on snow emergency routes; see a list of routes at fallschurchva.gov/SnowRoutes.
Here’s the latest from the City of Falls Church about their efforts preparing for the winter storm:
Snow emergency routes get first priority for plowing. It is likely that only those routes will be plowed on Friday and Saturday, and that residential streets will not start to be plowed until Sunday and Monday. Crews communicate and work with emergency responders in case of calls to residential streets. We thank you for your patience as we ensure that emergency services can safely navigate the streets.
Stay Off the Roads
It is critical to stay off the roads once the snow starts falling. The fewer vehicles on the road, the fewer accidents and emergencies occur. Please be smart and stay home.
Parking
When parking at home, please park in driveways as much as possible; this helps snow plows and emergency vehicles navigate the streets. If you live on a snow emergency route, make sure you do not park on the street.
Special Parking Restrictions for Poplar Dr., Gibson St.
Poplar Drive and Gibson Street will have special parking restrictions starting at noon on Friday, January 22 through 11 p.m. on Monday, January 25. Snow plows have difficulty clearing the roads when cars are parked on both sides of the streets, so residents and their visitors
