Carjackings, Hit-And-Run Leads To Arrest In Falls Church: Police

Police say the same suspect was involved in carjackings and a hit-and-run with a stolen vehicle on two dates.

FALLS CHURCH, VA — After a suspect was arrested for a Sunday carjacking in the City of Falls Church, police say he is the same suspect in Friday's carjacking and carjacking and hit-and-run injuring a pedestrian.

Around 3:45 p.m. Sunday, police responded to the carjacking to the 1000 block of W. Broad Street for an assault and attempted carjacking. One victim had non-life-threatening injuries from the incident.

Based on tips, police located and arrested the suspect. Police say the suspect matched the exact description of the suspect from Friday's incidents and was wearing the same clothes.

Charges are pending, and the man's identity will be released at a later time.

"I want to thank our officers and dispatch who persevered through the numerous incidents," said Police Chief Mary Gavin in a statement. "And a big thank you to the community members who stopped to help the victims and called in tips."

On Friday, police had responded around 12:30 p.m. to the 1200 block of W. Broad Street. The suspect was believed to have stolen a vehicle from a shopping center at 3089 Nutley St. in Fairfax County before driving into Falls Church.

According to police, the suspect drove onto the sidewalk, striking a pedestrian, telephone utility box and two parked cars. That pedestrian did not need medical care.

The suspect then fled to a shopping center parking lot, and stole a vehicle from a person loading groceries. The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The vehicle in that case was recovered in Fairfax County.
