FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA — Voters can participate in a caucus to choose Democratic endorsements of Fairfax County School Board candidates, but they have to register by Friday.

While Fairfax County School Board candidates don't have a primary election and will run in the Nov. 7 general election, candidates endorsements by Democrats will be chosen by a caucus. The Fairfax County Democratic Committee scheduled the May 13-20 open endorsement caucus for the non-partisan Fairfax County School Board races.

The endorsements will apply to candidates seeking seats in contested races — the three at-large School Board seats and the Hunter Mill and Mount Vernon districts. Endorsements will also be provided for Northern Virginia Soil and Water Conservation District's board of directors candidates.

"With our new endorsement process, the Fairfax County Democratic Committee is giving the choice on our endorsed candidates to the voters," said Fairfax County Democratic Committee chair Bryan Graham in a statement. "This process will strengthen our candidates for non-partisan offices and our party as we work to elect Democratic candidates to every position on the ballot this year."
