Falls Church High School Students Preparing to Perform 'Plaza Suite'

Three performances are set for May 2-3 at Falls Church High School.

It's check-in time at Falls Church High School Drama as the Jaguars conclude their 2013/14 main stage season with Neil Simon's Plaza Suite. Guest director Phillip Reid brings Neil Simon's quick-witted humor to life with his 10-person student ensemble.

Plaza Suite runs on Falls Church High School's Main Stage May 2 and 3. Tickets are $5 for students and $7 for adults, and may be purchased at the theater on the day of the show.

Plaza Suite is composed of three acts, each involving different characters but all set in Suite 719 of New York City's Plaza Hotel. The first act, "Visitor From Mamaroneck," introduces the audience to not-so-blissfully wedded couple Sam and Karen Nash, who are revisiting their honeymoon suite in an attempt by Karen to bring the love back into their marriage.

The second act, "Visitor from Hollywood," involves a meeting between movie producer Jesse Kiplinger and his old flame, suburban housewife Muriel Tate.

The third act, "Visitor from Forest Hills," revolves around married couple Roy and Norma Hubley on their daughter Mimsey's wedding day. In a rush of nervousness, Mimsey has locked herself in the suite's bathroom and refuses to leave.

Director Phillip Reid says, "Plaza Suite is a comedy that reaches out to all ages. The show has a little bit of everything — relationships, family drama, nostalgia-and really showcases the wonderful actors here at FCHS."

The cast of Plaza Suite features Keely Greene (Karen Nash), Mark Zubaly (Sam Nash/Borden Eisler), Jade Koumtakoun (Miss McCormack), Gulet Isse (Jesse Kiplinger), Beth Fleming (Muriel Tate), Kayla Gatling (Norma Hubley), Kam Spain (Roy Hubley), Lizzy Oriade (Mimsey Hubley), Alexys VanKampen (Bellhop), and Mikalanne Paladino (Waiter).

Plaza Suite was written by Neil Simon; this production is directed by Phillip Reid. The first performance is Friday, May 2 at 7 p.m.; subsequent performances are set for Saturday, May 3 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Performances are at Falls Church High School, located at: 7521 Jaguar Trail, Fairfax, VA 22042
