Falls Church High School Theater Presents "The Giver"
Prepare to see beyond! FCHS Drama Ends Season with "The Giver". Article includes dates, times, and price.
As the Jaguars conclude their 2014/15 season, leave reality at the door and enter a dystopian society where, in Lois Lowry’s words, “We gained control of many things. But we had to let go of others.” Eric Coble paints a compelling portrait of a supposedly utopian society where the benefit of protection may not prove itself worth the cost of freedom. The story, adapted from Lois Lowry’s novel of the same name, follows a young boy with the capacity to see beyond the colorless limits of his world and his sagely mentor. The play will be presented mostly in black and white, an effect achieved with makeup, lighting, and set pieces. Director Beth De Marco leads a talented ensemble of Luis Gutierrez (Father), Rose Moore (Mother), Danielle Phan (Lily), Calvin Zubaly (Asher), Maddie Rumingan (Fiona), and Keely Greene (Chief Elder), along with leads Bailey Singer (Jonas) and award winner Mark Zubaly (The Giver). The 31 cast and crew members working on the show hope to bring life and warmth to a world of dull and gray. Don’t miss this iconic tale recreated on the stage!
The Giver runs on Falls Church High School’s Main Stage April 30, May 1 and 2. Tickets are $5 for students and $8 for adults, and may be purchased at the theater on the day of the show.
