Falls Church High Senior Will Mejia Signs with Virginia Tech

Senior Will Mejia from Falls Church High School has just broken a lot of college hearts—but not Virginia Tech’s. This tri-sport athlete, with recognitions in each sport, has just officially signed with the Hokies and will sport the maroon and orange this fall as he joins the men’s soccer program.

While in high school, Will has played with the varsity football team, varsity basketball team, and the varsity soccer team. His dynamic talents were noticed in each sport.

While playing basketball for the Jaguars Will was recognized as an All-Conference player. While playing for the Jaguar Football program, Will racked up Conference 13 Player of the Year, 1st Team All Region, 1st Team All State, and 2nd Team All Met.

In the spring, back out on that same field, Will demonstrated his skills again. With soccer Will was part of the 2014 Conference 13 Championship team with the Jaguars. He was also recognized on the 1st Team All Region team.

With all these accolades, and so much talent, it was difficult for Will to decide which sport he wanted to take to the college level. After much deliberation and a great deal of help and support from his mom, his travel soccer coach Mr. Mo Tayare, as well as support from staff at Falls Church High School to include Ms. Polley Tanks and Coach Healy who he thanks immensely—Will decided on soccer.

A sport that he has been playing since he was just four years old, soccer is a great life passion for Will. He is excited about this opportunity with Virginia Tech—and very excited about the scholarship as well. The staff at Falls Church High School wish him all the best as he continues in collegiate sports and academics.
