Falls Church Lifts Snow Emergency on City Streets
Residents can park their vehicles tonight on routes designated for first responders; city preparing for refreeze on roads.

FALLS CHURCH, VA — With the end of the snowstorm in the Washington, D.C., region, the city government on Tuesday afternoon lifted the snow emergency, allowing residents to park on city streets as normal.
City crews, however, will treat the streets for a potential refreeze on Tuesday night, according to the city's website. Motorists are urged to use caution.

The city had declared a snow emergency at 8 p.m. Monday, activating snow emergency routes in Falls Church. In the event of a snowstorm, residents and visitors are not allowed to park along these streets, to keep them open for first responders, public safety officials and road crews.
Thus, these streets have priority for salting, sanding and plowing. Vehicles abandoned or parked on snow emergency routes can be ticketed and towed.

In other announcements:
- The city's Community Center will be open until 10 p.m. Tuesday.
- The city library's “Great Books” discussion, scheduled for Tuesday evening, is canceled.
- The Joint Housing Commission and Human Services Advisory Council meeting, scheduled for Tuesday evening, is canceled.
- Trash and recycling collection will proceed as scheduled on Wednesday.
