Falls Church Residents Warned Of Arrest Warrant Scam
Residents have reported scam calls from a person claiming to have an arrest warrant.
FALLS CHURCH, VA — Falls Church Police are warning residents of a scam with purported threats of arrest. The scam caller falsely claims to be an officer with the Falls Church police department in attempts to extort money or personal information.
Several residents have reported scam calls where the caller claims there is an outstanding warrant for their arrest. The caller will demand immediate payment for a purported fine using threats and intimidation. Residents will be asked to purchase prepaid debit cards and provide the identification numbers, allowing the scammer to receive the money from the cards.
Falls Church Police said in a statement its staff will not call to solicit funds or collect fines. Residents should avoid giving money or personal information to an unverified person.
