Falls Church Schools Win Virginia Index Of Performance Awards

The school district was one of nine that won the state board of education's Distinguished Achievement Award.

FALLS CHURCH, VA—Falls Church City Public Schools claimed several honors at the 2019 Virginia Index of Performance awards. The district was one of nine to win the Virginia Board of Education's Distinguished Achievement Award.

Aside from the school district recipients, 175 schools won the Distinguished Achievement Award. George Mason High School and Mary Ellen Henderson Middle School were among these schools. All honorees met state and federal benchmarks and made progress toward the governor and state board of education's goals.

Five schools statewide won the top honor, the Governor's Award for Educational Excellence. These were Longfellow Middle School in Fairfax County, Chesterbrook Elementary School and Cooper Middle School in McLean, Carson Middle School in Herndon and Jamestown Elementary School in Arlington.
