The Future is Calling Us to Greatness

Evolutionary theologian & best-selling author to speak on Sunday, Nov 9 at 12:30 pm

Rev. Michael Dowd, evolutionary theologian and best-selling author, and his wife, Connie Barlow, an acclaimed science writer and educator, will present “The Future is Calling Us to Greatness,” at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Fairfax, 2709 Hunter Mill Road in Oakton, VA, on Sunday, November 9, 12:30-2 p.m. in the Chapel (Program Building) .

This presentation will focus on what Rev. Dowd calls “six points of agreement held in common by tens of millions of religious and non-religious people across the globe.” He and Ms. Barlow will suggest how we can stay inspired in the face of changing climate and other large-scale challenges.

Rev. Michael Dowd is a bestselling author, “climate hawk” and evangelist for an “honorable relationship to the future.” His 2009 book, “Thank God for Evolution,” was endorsed by six Nobel laureates, noted skeptics and by religious leaders across the spectrum. His work has been featured in the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post and many more.

Rev. Dowd and Ms. Barlow permanently travel North America promoting the inspiring side of science and religious naturalism. They have addressed some 2,000 religious and secular audiences since 2002 - from Catholic and evangelical Christian churches to Unitarian Universalists and freethinkers.

The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Fairfax is a liberal religious community of more than 1,100 adults, youth and children dedicated to the free and responsible search for religious truth and meaning.
