FALLS CHURCH, VA — Downtown Falls Church has once again transformed into an outdoor gallery for Halloween art on business windows.

Since 2008, downtown Falls Church business windows have been decked out for the Falls Church Halloween Window Painting Festival. Falls Church Arts works with businesses and the community to organize Halloween window painting by young painters.

Outdoor window displays appear on businesses on West Broad Street and around the City of Falls Church. Scheduled painting days are Oct. 8, 9, 10 and 15.

Joe Wetzel, president and founder of Falls Church Arts, told City Council Tuesday this was the biggest year for the event, as 51 groups got involved. Residents are encouraged to view the art on window displays, as they will only be available for a limited time if rain washes them off.

"The work this year, some of it knocks your socks off," said Wetzel. "So if you haven't gotten out, you need to do it now, because like all great art, it's ephemeral. It's here today and gone tomorrow."

Wetzel encouraged residents to tell businesses they enjoy the window displays, as Falls Church Arts needs them to participate in future years.
