House Fire In Falls Church Area Causes $56K In Damage: Officials
Firefighters from Fairfax and Arlington counties were dispatched last Thursday to a house fire in the Falls Church area of Fairfax County.

FALLS CHURCH, VA — Firefighters from Fairfax County and Arlington County were dispatched last Thursday afternoon to a house fire in the Falls Church area of Fairfax County, according to fire officials.
No residents or firefighters were injured in the house fire. The fire caused about $56,250 in damage, the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department said.
Just before 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, fire units arrived at the scene of the one-story, single-family home in the 7000 block of Lee Park Court near Annandale Road, south of Route 50. When they arrived, firefighters saw smoke coming from a basement window. Crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire in the basement.

No residents were inside the house at the time of the fire. The homeowner discovered the fire when she returned home and saw smoke coming from the house. She then called 911, the fire department said.
The house did not have any working smoke alarms, according to the fire department.

Fire investigators determined the fire was accidental in nature and started in a basement bathroom. The cause of the fire was an electrical event involving a ceiling exhaust fan.
Four adults were displaced because of the fire. The Red Cross offered assistance, but it was declined, according to the fire department.
