REMINDER :: Leaving unbundled brush in the right-of-way is a violation of the City Code. Violators are subject to warnings and fines. To properly prepare yard waste and brush and avoid fines, please follow the rules below.
1. Yard waste- Yard waste should only include trimmings arising from general landscape maintenance. Place yard waste in compostable paper yard bags (For purchase at Giant, Costco, Wal-Mart) with a yellow $1 collection sticker (For purchase at City Hall, Giant, Browns Hardware). Each bag must weigh less than 50 pounds.
2. Brush- Brush that is neatly bundled with twine or neatly stacked in a container is picked up free of charge. Special bulk collections are available for unbundled brush for a charge by scheduling through the Solid Waste Hotline 703-248-5160, option 4. Each bundle, secured with cord or twine, or container of brush must not exceed 5 feet in length, 50 pounds, nor be too large or bulky to be loaded safely into the collection vehicle.
