Large Tree Falls Onto Home, Over 2K Lose Power In Falls Church
Strong winds have brought down trees and power lines and caused widespread power outages around the city and nearby counties.

A nor'easter has hit the DC region in the form of a strong wind storm, leaving thousands without power in the City of Falls Church and hundreds of thousands more in surrounding counties due to numerous downed trees and power lines in the roads. Falls Church and the region is under a high wind warning through 6 a.m. Saturday.
Dominion Energy reports customers 1,916 Falls Church customers out, 112,422 Fairfax County customers out and 13,138 Arlington customers out as of 3:40 p.m. In addition, 2,463 NOVEC customers are without power in Fairfax County. The number of outages in Falls Church jumped to over 2,100 in the late morning and began to drop in the afternoon as restorations made progress.
Police urge drivers to treat intersections without power as a four way stop. Here are the road closures reported in the City of Falls Church:

- 300 Block of E. Broad Street: both eastbound lanes are closed, and one westbound lane is closed. Best to avoid area. A live wire is down, and Dominion has been called.
- Timber Lane: tree down. Crews will remove once safe to do so.

City of Falls Church government opened at noon, including the Community Center and library. All classes and activities at the Community Center and Library before 3 p.m were cancelled.
