I-66 Work Inside the Beltway To Impact Overnight Drivers
Installation of toll devices on Interstate 66 will close parts of the Capital Beltway and I-66 overnight Wednesday and Thursday.
FALLS CHURCH, VA -- Parts of the Capital Beltway and Interstate-66 will close overnight Wednesday and Thursday during installation of toll devices on I-66. At certain points overnight, all lanes in one direction will be closed for 20-minute intervals, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.
From 9:30 p.m. Wednesday to 5 a.m. Thursday, eastbound I-66 will have single lane closures between Glebe Road in Arlington and Route 7 in Falls Church. Between midnight and 4 a.m. Thursday, all eastbound lanes will close for 20-minute intervals.
From 9:30 p.m. Thursday to 5 a.m. Friday, the collector-distributor lane near the Arlington Boulevard exit will close on northbound Capital Beltway near Falls Church and Annandale. Between midnight and 4 a.m. Friday, all northbound lanes will close for 20-minute intervals. The rain date for this project is between 9:30 p.m. on Friday, April 28 and 5 a.m. on Saturday, April 29.

The work is part of the future I-66 Express Lanes project inside the Capital Beltway. Tolling will allow single drivers to use I-66 east of the Beltway during HOV hours (weekdays 6:30 a.m.-9 a.m. eastbound and 4 p.m.-6:30 p.m. westbound).
