Learn How To Solarize, Electrify Your Home In Falls Church

Falls Church residents looking to switch to environmentally-friendly solar or electric methods can attend upcoming informational events.

FALLS CHURCH, VA — For some homeowners, switching their homes to electric or solar power may be a way to get cost savings and environmental benefits from using less fossil fuels. Two upcoming initiatives will provide information to Falls Church residents looking into electric or solar power.

The Electrify Falls Church Open House on Saturday will focus on electrifying your home and vehicles. The event hosted by Falls Church Climate Action Network and Falls Church Forward from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. will focus on electric vehicles, electric lawn equipment, induction ranges, and other environmentally-friendly decisions. Several Falls Church homeowners will also be on hand to discuss their experiences with solar installations and home battery backups. There will also be information on tax credits and efficiency incentives.

Residents are asked to RSVP for the event location. The event is several blocks from Falls Church City Hall.

Beyond Saturday's open house, residents can continue to learn about solar installations through the Solarize NOVA initiative. Residents who sign up for the program can get a free solar satellite assessment, recommendations for qualified solar installers, discounted solar pricing, fixed pricing for EV charger installation and community workshops.

Residents can look up their home on the NOVA Solar Map to see the solar energy potential from their rooftop. The estimation is based on the current electric rate of 11 cents per kilowatt-hour.

There will also be several information sessions on solar installations:

  • Wednesday, July 19 from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.; Register
  • Thursday, July 27 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.; Register
  • Tuesday, August 1 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.; Register
  • Thursday, August 17 from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.; Register
