Man Hits Rideshare Driver With Car Wiper In Falls Church: Police

A rider tried to rob the driver after being picked up at Tysons Corner Center, according to Fairfax County Police.

FALLS CHURCH, VA—A Falls Church man is facing charges after attacking a rideshare driver with a car's windshield wiper early Tuesday, according to Fairfax County Police.

Around 1:42 p.m., the driver picked up two men from Tysons Corner Center and took them to the 2900 block of Monticello Drive in Falls Church. Upon arrival, one of the men grabbed the driver's jacket and demanded money. When the driver said he didn't have money, the man broke a wiper off the car and struck the victim with it, police say.

Officers arrested William Paneque, 30, of Falls Church, as he tried to leave the scene. He was charged with attempted robbery, destruction of property and drunk in public.
