Marshall Special Education Teacher Acquitted Of Assault Charge

A Marshall High School teacher whose assault charges were dropped said she had been protecting a teacher from a student's attack.

FALLS CHURCH, VA — A teacher at George C. Marshall High School had charges dropped in relation to the alleged assault of a special needs student, according to Fairfax County Circuit Court records.

Police had charged Amy Bonzano, 50, of Falls Church, a special education teacher, with two counts of assault related to a student's assault.

One of the charges was dropped in spring 2023. A jury in Fairfax County Circuit Court acquitted Bonzano of the second charge in October 2023. Bonzano maintains that she was protecting another teacher from a student's attack.
