Opening Reception of "Urban Edge" solo show by Sandi Parker
New Exhibit at Gallery Underground in Crystal City
Friday, March 4, 5-8pm
The Focus Gallery in March features “Urban Edge,” Sandi Parker’s solo show of abstract acrylic paintings depicting urban living—chaotic, intense and sublime. Meant to evoke city walls, the paintings are highly textured, resembling the patina that results from many layers of peeling paint, graffiti and pasted flyers. The paintings are a marriage of abstract and street art. The artist says, “Urban beauty can be found in even the darkest alleys with decaying walls. In cities, everything is art if you take the time to see it.” The public is invited to meet the artist and enjoy some refreshments.
