Pedestrian Killed In Bailey's Crossroads Crash, Fleeing Driver Located
A Woodbridge driver was charged with DUI in a crash that killed a pedestrian on Columbia Pike, according to Fairfax County Police.

BAILEY'S CROSSROADS, VA — A pedestrian was killed in a crash early Saturday in Bailey's Crossroads, leading Fairfax County Police to locating the fleeing driver.
The crash happened around 2:13 a.m. Saturday on Columbia Pike at Powell Lane. Police believe a 2010 BMW driver heading east on Columbia Pike struck and pedestrian and did not stop.
The pedestrian identified as Luis Fernando Jimenez Rodriguez, 26.

Police located the vehicle in the 6100 block of Marshall Drive. The driver, Benjamin Lopez Encinas, 33, of Woodbridge, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. Encinas was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.
This was the fifth fatal pedestrian crash of 2023. At this time in 2022, there were 11 fatal pedestrian crashes.
