Singer-Songwriter Spook Handy vows to bring his concert honoring the late folk music icon, Pete Seeger, to all 50 U.S. states, all 13 Canadian provinces and territories, all 21 New Jersey counties, and as many other countries around the world as possible by Pete’s 97th birthday on May 3, 2016. You can honor Pete Seeger, help Spook reach his goal and have a great good time at Spook’s concert for FSGW on November 22 at 8 pm. Entitled “Remembering Pete Seeger: a concert of songs and stories,” the concert will be held at Knox Presbyterian Church in Falls Church, VA.

Spook Handy is a modern troubadour in the tradition of Pete Seeger. Like Pete, he turned his back on a life of privilege to become a traveling singer-songwriter. After graduating from Rutgers University Phi Beta Kappa in math and business, he honed his craft in New Jersey and New York. For 20 years he hosted a weekly showcase in a New Brunswick, NJ, tavern that helped create a large community of supportive songwriters.

Spook performed many times with Pete, whom he calls “the Grandfather of contemporary American folk music.”

Concert is free to members; general admission $15; students $10.
