PODS(R) makes truck driving safety fun

PODS hosts fifth annual Truck Driving Championship, geared to promoting safety and professional driving skills

(CLEARWATER, Fla.) — March 31, 2015 – On Saturday March 7th, PODS moving and storage hosted its fifth annual Truck Driving Championship, which is geared to promoting safety and the professional driving skills of the drivers involved. This year there was a record of 33 drivers competing, and the winner was Marc Fox from Fredericksburg, VA, representing the Washington DC market.

PODS drivers from across the country traveled to the Florida State Fairgrounds to compete in such challenges as navigating through an obstacle course, performing difficult deliveries and maneuvering PODS containers into tight spaces using PODS’ patented PODZILLA®.

“The contest focused on some of the skills that are critical to providing great customer service, while keeping safety as a number one priority,” according to Rob Allison, PODS Regional Director for the Southeast. “While the competition is a fun event, it underscores the serious dedication our drivers display in giving customers the best and safest PODS experience.”

Fox earned bragging rights, as well as his name and city being engraved on the PODS Truck Driving Championship trophy. Fox said his biggest challenge in winning the “Best of the Best” in 2015 title was the competition from all of the other drivers.

“It was a tough fight, but most of all I really admire how we all focused on the safety of operating heavy machinery,” said Fox. “Even though I have worked for PODS for 3 years, I still learn a lot from watching the other truck drivers. I had an incredible time, met a lot of great people and I’m looking forward to next year. I would also like to thank my management team for their support.”

“Customer satisfaction and safety are of the utmost importance at PODS and every driver goes through extensive training to meet our criteria,” said John B. Koch, President and CEO, PODS Enterprises, LLC. “Our annual truck driving competition is an exciting way to bring everyone together so that they can demonstrate safety and their exceptional skills.”
