Presidents' Day 2019: What's Open, Closed In Falls Church
Presidents' Day, known as George Washington Day in Virginia, is a federal holiday. Here's what will be open and closed.

FALLS CHURCH, VA—In 2019, Presidents' Day falls on Monday, Feb. 18. Virginia recognizes the federal holiday as George Washington Day, given his roots in the state.
There's plenty to do throughout the holiday weekend, including the George Washington Birthday Parade and a free admission day at Mount Vernon.
The holiday also means a number of closures and schedule changes around Falls Church. Below are the openings and closures to know on Presidents' Day.

City of Falls Church and Fairfax County government offices: Closed on Feb. 18.
State offices: Arlington and Fairfax County courts are closed Feb. 18.

Falls Church City Public Schools and Fairfax County Public Schools: Closed on Feb. 18.
Community Centers: Falls Church Community Center is open 8:30 a.m.-10 p.m. Fairfax County Neighborhood and Community Services (NCS) programs, activities and facilities will be closed Feb. 16-18.
Fairfax Connector and Fastran: Fairfax Connector bus service will operate on a holiday weekday schedule on Feb. 18. Fastran will not operate on Feb. 18. See www.fairfaxcounty.gov/connector for more information.
Libraries: Mary Riley Styles Public Library and all Fairfax County libraries will be closed on Feb. 18.
Metrorail: Metrorail will run on a Saturday schedule on Feb. 18 from 5 a.m.-11:30 p.m. Off-peak fares will be in effect and parking will be free at Metro lots and garages. On Feb. 16-18, Yellow Line trains will only run between Huntington and Reagan National Airport due to rail maintenance on the Yellow Line bridge between Pentagon and L'Enfant Plaza. Metrobus: Metrobus will operate on a Saturday and supplemental schedule on Feb. 18. Visit www.wmata.com for more details on specific routes.
Post offices: Closed on Feb. 18.
Recreation centers: Open regular hours on Feb. 18.
Recycling: I-66 Transfer Station (4618 West Ox Road, Fairfax) and I-95 Landfill (9850 Furnace Road, Lorton) are open on Feb. 18.
Trash pickup: City of Falls Church collection happens on Wednesdays. There is no change to Fairfax County trash and recycling pickup on Feb. 18. Have your materials at the curb or street line by 6 a.m. Contact private providers for any schedule changes.
