Vienna Photographic Society - November 19, 2014 Competition
Photography Competition judged by Joe Elbert, former Assistant Managing Editor of Photography for The Washington Post
Joe Elbert will judge the November 19, 2014 competition of the Vienna Photographic Society, which focuses on two themes: 1) black and white photography and 2) social documentary or commentary photography. Elbert was the Assistant Managing Editor of Photography for The Washington Post from 1988 through 2007. Under his direction, The Washington Post photography staff won more awards than any other newspaper in the history of journalism, including 4 Pulitzer Prizes, 2 Best World Picture of the Year awards from World Press Photo, 6 Photographer of the Year awards from the National Press Photographers Association, and 17 Photographer of the Year awards from the White House Press Photographers Association. He was the National Press Photographers Association’s Editor of the Year in 1995 and the Joseph A. Sprague award recipient in 2003.
