What's Open, Closed During Bomb Cyclone In Falls Church

After the bomb cyclone hit the Falls Church area, only certain services are open Thursday.

FALLS CHURCH, VA—In the midst of the bomb cyclone hitting the East Coast, the region remains under a wind chill advisory until noon Friday as chilly temperatures and gusty winds remain a concern after the snowfall. Some services in Falls Church have closed for the day due to the snow accumulation and winter weather conditions.

While Falls Church City and Fairfax County Public Schools closed for the day, city and county offices remain open, although some staff are on leave for the day.

City of Falls Church offices: Open.

Fairfax County Offices: Open. Employees have been granted unscheduled leave. Emergency services will run as usual. Check the calendar for changes to public meetings/hearings.

Schools and Administrative Offices: Closed.

Courts: Arlington and Fairfax Counties and City of Falls Church courts are open.

Fairfax County Animal Shelter: Open regular time at noon.

Community Centers: Falls Church Community Center is open. Fairfax County Neighborhood and Community Services (NCS) facilities are open. NCS programs held at Fairfax County Public Schools are cancelled. For status information about specific programs, classes or activities, call the facility or the main office at 703-324-4600.

Fairfax Connector and Fastran: Fairfax Connector bus service may be modified or suspended. Check BusTracker for your specific route. Fastran will transport dialysis, chemotherapy, and radiation trips only.

Libraries: Mary Riley Styles Public Library is open. For Fairfax County, call your local branch for hours.

Metro: Metro is running, but some bus routes may be affected. Check www.wmata.com for your route.

Rec Centers and Park Programs: Fairfax County rec centers and park programs will run as scheduled, except for those held at FCPS.

Trash Pickup: No Fairfax County trash pickup Thursday. Thursday customers should leave their trash and recycling carts at the curb/street to collect this week. If you receive trash/recycling collection service from a private trash collector, contact them directly. Falls Church trash collection is on Wednesdays.
