3 Injured In Shooting At Fredericksburg Home: Police
Three people were injured on Monday night in Fredericksburg when an unknown person fired multiple shots into an apartment, police said.
FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Three people were injured in a shooting in Fredericksburg on Monday night, according to the Fredericksburg Police Department. The victim's injuries were not considered life-threatening, and they are all expected to survive.
The shooting was reported around 11:300 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 23. A caller in the 1000 block of Wicklow Drive in Fredericksburg told authorities that someone had shot at their apartment, according to a release from the police department.

The caller was not able to identify the shooter, but said they fired "multiple shots" into the apartment, police said. Fredericksburg police officers responded to the scene, where they found two victims suffering from gunshot wounds. The officers provided first aid until rescue personnel arrived, authorities said.
Rescue personnel took the victims to a nearby hospital for further treatment. As they began their investigation, the police department learned of a third victim from the shooting. They were being treated at a hospital north of Fredericksburg, police said.

The victims' injuries are not considered life-threatening, authorities said.
No suspect description was immediately available from the police department. "The investigation is in its infancy," the Fredericksburg Police Department said.

Monday's shooting is the latest in a series of violent crimes that have occurred in the City of Fredericksburg this summer. Earlier this month, Fredericksburg's Chief of Police Brian Layton released a statement with the city's Commonwealth's Attorney, Elizabeth Humphries.
"Over the last few months, the City of Fredericksburg has seen instances of violent crime stemming from gun violence like most cities across the country," Layton said. "Gun violence doesn’t just impact victims and offenders; it affects families, children, loved ones – gun violence impacts our entire community."

"Humphries and I are sending a clear message to anyone who comes to Fredericksburg," Layton said in his statement. "We will not tolerate gun violence in our city."
