FREDERICKSBURG, VA — If you're thinking about helping out a friend at the local church Thanksgiving and tote its trash to nearby garbage dump, you might want to think again.
That's right. Alice's Restaurant. Rather, "Alice's Restaurant Massacree," the title track to Arlo Guthrie's 1967 debut album.
For whatever reason, the song about a well-meaning chore gone horribly awry has become a holiday staple.

Also, those of certain age in Fredericksburg who migrated from Hampton Roads may remember that the now-defunct K-94 radio station used to play the song every Thanksgiving at 4 p.m.
