Fredericksburg visitor spending hits $183 million in 2025 (fredericksburg.com) — Visitor spending in Fredericksburg climbed to more than $183 million in 2025, supporting 1,657 local jobs and $57 million in wages and benefits. City officials credit investments in Riverfront Park, special events, the new Visitor Center, FredNats stadium, and downtown improvements for helping the city outpace regional tourism growth and earn recognition for its Main Street and marketing efforts.
   

2. $531K Grant Targets Startups, Tech Growth In Fredericksburg Region (patch.com) — More than $531,000 in state funding is headed to Fredericksburg and nearby counties to boost startups and tech-focused businesses through new accelerator programs, pre-accelerator cohorts, and Tech Night events. Over the next two years, the Growth Alliance Initiative will help local firms commercialize products, connect with partners like Dahlgren, and tap into a broader $5 million GO Virginia investment in high-growth industries.
   

3. Woman Faces Charges After Assault, Altercation With Stafford Deputy (patch.com) — A 35-year-old woman is facing multiple felony and misdemeanor charges after deputies say she assaulted a person, stole their phone, and kicked a Stafford County sheriff's deputy during an arrest near Fredericksburg. Court records show she remains in custody on most charges, with an attorney review set for Sept. 24 and a preliminary hearing on Nov. 5 in Stafford General District Court.
   

4. Press Rewind: Sept. 14-19 (fredericksburgfreepress.com) — Fredericksburg readers are directly affected by confusing absentee ballot mailings and a delayed review of School Board travel after the city schools' CFO resigned. This week's roundup also highlights a massive proposed data center campus nearby, a rejected business tax in Stafford, and the governor's new data center accountability push, all of which could shape local growth, taxes, and infrastructure.
   

5. Gov. Abigail Spanberger announces data center 'accountability' act (fredericksburgfreepress.com) — New state rules proposed by Gov. Abigail Spanberger could significantly shape how large data centers are approved and regulated around the Fredericksburg area, with tougher standards on energy costs, pollution, and transparency. Fredericksburg's congressional representative, Eugene Vindman, is also backing federal bills to curb tax breaks for massive data centers and ensure they pay more of the infrastructure costs tied to their huge power demands.
