Cop Accidentally Overdoses On Drugs After Arrest In Stafford
A Stafford County Sheriff's Office deputy investigating apparent drug overdoses by two people Wednesday accidentally OD'd himself.
STAFFORD, VA — A Stafford County Sheriff's Office deputy investigating apparent drug overdoses by two people Wednesday accidentally exposed himself to an opiate, most likely Fentanyl, while collecting evidence in the 300 block of High Pointe Boulevard, according to police.
Dep. A.C. Wolford was treated for an opiate overdose and released from a local hospital. Touching or inhaling Fentanyl can lead to an overdose or even death if not treated quickly. The two people who apparently overdosed, Michael Chambers, 40, of Occoquan, and Samantha Stoudt, 29, of Woodbridge, were treated, released and arrested on drug charges. They're being held without bond.

Around 6:30 a.m., police responded to the Goddard School for a report of an unknown medical emergency. They found a van in the parking lot with two unconscious people inside, one of whom had a syringe sticking out of an arm. Stoudt was taken to a hospital for treatment, and Dep. Wolford went there to see her as part of the investigation.
While he was in the emergency room, Wolford attracted the attention of hospital workers when he became unsteady on his feet and seemed to be slurring his speech. He was given NARCAN (or Naloxone), which reverses the effects of an opiate overdose.
