Drug Drop-Off Box A Hit In Stafford: Police
Over the past three months, 79 pounds of drugs have been collected from a drug disposal box in Stafford donated by CVS says the SCSO.

STAFFORD, VA — Saturday is National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day, and the Stafford County Sheriff's Office dutifully will take part in the exercise where folks can drop off unwanted drugs — no questions asked — at various sites. But the county spent much of the summer and early fall getting quite a jump on such an endeavor.
Over the past three months, according to police, 79 pounds of drugs have been collected from a drug disposal box in the lobby of the Public Safety Building at 1225 Courthouse Road. The box was donated over the summer by CVS Pharmacy.
Drop-off hours, Monday-Friday, are from 8 p.m.-9 9.m. Accepted drugs include prescription medications, patches and ointments, over-the-counter medications, vitamins and pet medications. Not accepted: sharps, liquids, lotions, inhalers, epipens, aerosol cans/inhalers or thermometers.

Said Loudoun County sheriff David Decatur in a release: "Drug overdose is now the leading cause of accidental death in the United States. The surge in overdose deaths, particularly from heroin and fentanyl, is one of the most troubling markers of the ongoing opioid crisis, which has crept into nearly every community across the nation. The installation of the drug collection unit is one step we are taking to prevent drug abuse and save lives."
