There are some items in our closet that are meant to be casual, and casual only. So, please appreciate these items for what they really are. Thank you. That is all.
Why is this my topic this week? Well, because I am seeing some of these items out and about, but under disguise. They are masquerading as wanna-be dress up clothes. Not a good idea. At all.
Let me give you an example with a personal experience:

I was recently shopping in Central Park and was in line to check out at The Loft. I was behind an attractive woman with two kids in tow. Her outfit perplexed me. She was wearing yoga pants (by design, meant for casual comfort, and even (gasp)...yoga!). Could’ve been fine; I go out in yoga pants, too. However, she was wearing heels with her yoga pants! And, a lacy top and jewelry. I’m sorry, pretty stranger, but the fashion police have issued you a ticket for inappropriate usage of yoga pants.
So, the morale of this story, is keep yoga pants casual! Wear them with tennis shoes! Wear them with flip-flops! Perhaps, live on the edge and wear them with flats. Feel free to pair them with a cute t-shirt, sweatshirt, and even a casual cardi. But, please, my friends, don’t wear them with heels. Don’t wear them with luxury fabrics and sexy shirts. No need to carry a cute little clutch. Just let them be…soft, comfy yoga pants.

What other items fall into this category? Perhaps cotton track suits, maybe cotton maxi dresses, and definitely anything designed for exercise. What items have I left out? I’d love to hear from you!
