Fredericksburg Police File Murder Charge In Ivanhoe Court Fatal Shooting

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — A Fredericksburg man initially detained as a person of interest in last week's fatal shooting has now been charged with first-degree murder, according to city police.

The Fredericksburg Police Department announced Monday that detectives have obtained additional charges against Emmanuel Killeen, 24, following their investigation into the June 24 homicide in the 200 block of Ivanhoe Court.

Killeen remains held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.

Investigation Led To Additional Charges

Detectives have continued gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses since the shooting, which occurred Wednesday, June 24, according to police.

Based on the ongoing investigation, authorities charged Killeen with first-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Police have not released additional details about what investigators uncovered or whether they are seeking any additional suspects.

Victim Died At Hospital

Officers responded shortly after 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday to investigate reports of a shooting in the 200 block of Ivanhoe Court. When they arrived, they found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim was taken to Mary Washington Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Shortly after the shooting, officers detained Killeen as a person of interest while detectives and crime scene investigators processed evidence at the scene.

The victim's identity has not yet been released publicly by police.
