Fredericksburg Police: Shoplifting Suspect Is at Large

Spotsylvania resident charged with stealing items from Wegman's

A Spotsylvania County man is being sought by Fredericksburg police for allegedly stealing several items from a local grocery store on Wednesday evening.

Police obtained two felony warrants charging David McCullen, 39, with shoplifting following an incident at Wegmans, 2281 Carl D. Silver Parkway, according to a police report. As of Thursday, McCullen had not been arrested.

At 7 p.m. Wednesday, a Wegmans employee reported to police that a male subject stole several items, then fled on foot when the employee attempted to detain him. The investigating officer was able to identify the offender as McCullen, the police report said.

  • A vehicle tampering in the 700 block of Cornell Street. At 2:40 a.m. Wednesday, a city resident reported that an unknown person entered her unlocked vehicle. Nothing appeared to have been stolen, police said. No suspects or witnesses have been identified.
  • A vandalism in the 300 block of Hanson Avenue. At 7 p.m. Wednesday, a resident reported that an unknown person poured paint on her vehicle at some time on Tuesday or Wednesday. A possible suspect has been identified, police said; no arrests have been made.
