Man Overdoses On Heroin In Stafford Walmart: Police

A man who overdosed on heroin in a Walmart bathroom later tried to smuggle heroin into jail: Stafford County Sheriff's Office.

STAFFORD, VA—A man who overdosed on heroin in a Walmart bathroom Saturday afternoon later tried to smuggle heroin into Rappahannock Regional Jail, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office. Richard Carlton Garner, 29, of Stafford, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance in a jail.

Around 3:30, responded to a reported medical emergency in the department store at 11 Village Parkway. They were told a man had passed out in a store bathroom, and upon arrival found him being assisted by emergency personnel.

A deputy saw several drug-related items in plain sight. The man, who was lethargic, denied an offer to be taken to a hospital and was arrested. He later admitted to using heroin, and while being booked at the jail, police found heroin hidden in his shoe.
