Police: Cash Reward in Graffiti Investigation

There have been 55 cases in Fredericksburg so far this year, compared to 16 in all of 2014, according to Fredericksburg City Police.

Fredericksburg City Police is offering $500 to help stop a rash of graffiti incidents in the city this year. The cash is for information that leads to an arrest.

There have been 55 reported cases so far this year, many of them in the downtown district. There were only 16 cases in all of 2014.

Last week, Owaiian Jones, 54, was charged with destruction of property in six graffiti incidents overnight May 20-21.

The police is committed to finding the individuals who are defacing buildings, property, and homes, according to Capt. Rick Pennock, with the Detective Division.

“The cash reward for information is just one of many efforts the Police Department is putting forth to find out who is responsible for recent graffiti, and to keep future graffiti from plaguing the city,” he said.
