Police: Checks Stolen From Church
Suspect led officers to stolen checks and now charged with felony larceny, according to Fredericksburg City Police.
A man has been arrested for allegedly stealing checks from a church mailbox, according to Fredericksburg City Police.
Deshon Shelton, 27, of no fixed address, is charged with three counts of felony larceny and two counts of misdemeanor larceny.
A parishioner of First Christian Church, 1501 Washington Avenue, contacted police at 4 p.m. Wednesday. A man had been seen stealing envelopes with checks from the mailbox outside of the church.

An officer patrolling Princes Anne Street located Shelton, who had matched the description of the suspect. Shelton allegedly led the officer to where he had stashed the stolen checks, according to police.
Shelton is being held without bond.
