FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Smooch the Pooch, a K-9 kissing booth that raises money for charity, is returning to Fredericksburg on Saturday.

The event is organized by the Dog Krazy pet supply store and will raise money for the Old Dominion Humane Society. The event will be held at Dog Krazy's location at 307 William Street on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Eight volunteers and their dogs will run the booth, according to Dog Krazy's ownership. Nancy Guinn is the owner of Dog Krazy's seven locations.

"The best kisses are dog kisses. While some think their soulmate has 2 legs, at Dog Krazy our soulmates have 4 legs, are covered in fur, constantly cropdust us and even that makes us love them more," Guinn said. "And bonus, unlike our human soulmates, we don’t mind when our doggy soulmates give kisses to help raise money for our local animal rescues."

The Smooch the Pooch event was an annual occasion, but it has been cancelled each of the last three years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dog Krazy supports several charitable organizations throughout Fredericksburg, Stafford, Spotsylvania, and Richmond. Their "Piggy Bank Fund" allows local animal charities to request donations.

"In 2006, Nancy [Guinn] opened the first Dog Krazy with Piglet the Bulldog by her side," Dog Krazy said on its website. "Piglet passed away in 2016 but through Dog Krazy her memory will always live on. And now, through The Piggy Bank, Piglet will continue to bless the lives of more and more people everyday."
