Man Found Dead After Report of Shots Fired Was FBI Employee: Media Report

Authorities investigating homicide in southern end of Stafford County near Fredericksburg.

An FBI employee was shot and killed outside his home in Stafford County on Monday morning, a Washington TV station is reporting.

Officials identified the victim as Jeremy Brown, a 29-year-old police officer who worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigation, according to WJLA-ABC Channel 7. He was assigned to the FBI Academy at Quantico.

FBI personnel and a medical examiner escorted his body from the shooting scene, but nearly two dozen investigators remained there Monday afternoon, Channel 7 reported.

The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office reported that at 5:01 a.m., deputies responded to a call of numerous gunshots being heard in the area of Clint Lane, in the southern part of the county near Fredericksburg.

When deputies arrived on the scene, they found one male subject on the ground, dead from apparent gunshot wounds, according to a police statement.

The sheriff’s office said there was no further danger to the community.

A notification was sent out to residents in the affected community informing them of the incident, the sheriff’s office said.

In addition, the Transportation Department of the Stafford County school system was notified “so that appropriate changes could be made” to school bus routes in that area, the sheriff’s office said.

The sheriff’s office said that additional information will be provided as it becomes available.
