Thieves Nearly Caught at Scene of Crime
Eleven cars in one neighborhood block showed signs of tampering: Fredericksburg police.

A phone call to Fredericksburg police early Friday stopped a pair of burglars from breaking into a row of parked cars.
At 2:30 a.m. Friday, a city resident contacted police and told them that she saw two unidentified male subjects looking into vehicles parked in the 800 block of Marye Street, and even getting inside one of the cars.

The suspects left the scene before the police arrived, according to a police report.

Officers checked all of the cars on the block and found 11 that had evidence of tampering. One of them had property stolen out of the trunk.
None of the vehicles showed signs of forced entry, police said. They are continuing to investigate this incident.
