Suspects In Murder Of Fredericksburg Teen Caught In MD: Police
Lorenzo Brooks and Aaron Carter are accused of fatally shooting 18-year-old Jasiah Smith last month, according to police.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Two Fredericksburg teenagers wanted in connection with the March 26 shooting death of 18-year-old Jasiah Smith were apprehended in Maryland on Thursday, according to police.
Lorenzo Brooks, 16, and Aaron Carter, 19, were taken into custody in Temple Hills, Fredericksburg police said in a release. Brooks is charged with first-degree murder, while Carter faces a second-degree murder charge.
Last month, authorities were called to the 400 block of Chadwick Court, where they found Smith lying in a parking lot with multiple gunshot wounds. Smith was taken to the hospital, where he later died, police said.

Authorities identified Carter as a suspect earlier this month. On April 14, police released the identity of Brooks due to the extenuating circumstances of the crime.
Police departments in Virginia typically avoid identifying juveniles accused of crimes due to a state law that protects their identities.

Brooks and Carter are being held at the Upper Marlboro Corrections Center without bond.
