Toys R Us and Babies R Us Becoming One
The Toys R Us at 3101 Plank Rd. is merging with Babies R Us for a one-stop shop for kids and babies.

From June 29 to July 1, Toys R Us at 3101 Plank Rd. will be celebrating its grand re-opening and merger with Babies R Us with giveaways, kid-friendly events and costumed characters.
The redesign of this store represents an ongoing strategy of merging the two brands under one roof.
“Whether parents are shopping for board games and electronics for older kids or diapers and formula for babies, they’ll find everything they are looking for conveniently under one roof,” said Jerry Storch, chairman and CEO of Toys R Us, Inc. “We look forward to providing new and expectant parents with an incredible product selection and the popular Babies R Us Registry, while rewarding our loyal Toys R Us customers in Fredericksburg with an enhanced shopping experience where we can present the best of both brands.”

This merge strategy started in 2006 using a side-by-side store format. By 2007, the company was constructing new stores using this format, varying in size from 30,000 square feet to 64,000 square feet. There are more than 180 of these stores in the United States.
The Fredericksburg-area store also kept the environment in mind when refurbishing the store. These features include:
