Woodbridge Teen Accused Of Stealing Car, Eluding Cops In Stafford
Two teenagers from Woodbridge and Stafford were arrested after they were accused of stealing a car and fleeing from police in Stafford.
STAFFORD COUNTY, VA — Two teenagers who were accused of stealing a car were arrested in Stafford County on Monday, July 19. The Stafford County Sheriff's Office claimed the teens fled from police before they were ultimately taken into custody.
At 3 p.m. on Monday, authorities in Stafford County received a report of a reckless driver on Widewater Road. The caller also provided a photo of the vehicle, a Volkswagen Jetta, with its license plate visible, the sheriff's office said.
A Stafford County deputy said he ran the license plate number through the sheriff office's system and learned that the car was reported as stolen from Prince William County. The deputy found the car parked near the Pick-A-Part on Norman Road, according to the sheriff's office.

There were two people in the car as the deputy approached it, police said. As the deputy got closer, the car's driver fled the area on foot, according to a police report.
When the deputy went to chase the driver, he heard the vehicle accelerate towards him, authorities said. The passenger had moved to the driver's seat began to drive towards Norman Road, and the deputy had to run out of the car's path, the sheriff's office said.

Additional deputies then responded to the area to help search for the teenagers. The teen in the Jetta attempted to drive towards the Pick-A-Part, but the sheriff's office said he was intercepted. He was taken into custody without further incident.
Police identified the teen who tried to flee in the car as a 17-year-old from Woodbridge. Authorities said they found a credit card in his possession that belonged to the owner of the stolen car.
The second teen was not immediately located, police said. Though they were able to identify him as Bryant Munoz-Rubio, an 18-year-old Stafford resident. He was taken into custody at his home on Tuesday afternoon.

The 17-year-old is charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of a stolen credit card, obstruction of justice, and reckless driving.
Munoz-Rubio is charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, obstruction of justice, eluding, and driving without a license. He is being held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
