• Gainesville Teen Girl Reached For Officer's Gun During Domestic Arrest In Virginia: Police (dailyvoice.com) — Police say a 16-year-old Gainesville girl allegedly assaulted a family member, then reached for an officer’s holstered gun as she was being arrested at a home on Crescent Park Drive early Thursday. Officers kept the firearm secured, restrained her without injuries, and took her to the Juvenile Detention Center. Charges are pending a court appearance, with details still to come.
   

• Bennett School ground study nearing close as debate over Civil War graves rages on (insidenova.com) — Prince William County is moving ahead with demolishing Manassas’ historic Old Bennett School to expand the overcrowded judicial center, despite unresolved questions about possible Civil War graves beneath the site. Gainesville District Supervisor George Stewart cast the lone vote against demolition, while a Gainesville District historical commissioner is pressing for clearer answers. Ground-penetrating radar work should finish this week, with future steps hinging on what’s found.
