2 Arrested For Violent Crimes In Herndon: Police Report

HERNDON, VA — Officers from the Herndon Police Department arrested two men in connection with two recent violent crimes in the town, one was an aggravated assault and the other a sexual battery offense, according to the weekly crime report.

HPD arrested Omar Alexander Ayala Molina, 42, of Herndon, and charged him with aggravated assault, robbery, and gang participation in connection with the assault of two victims that occurred Sept. 5, in the 1100 block of Elden St.

Both of the victims in the case were taken to Reston Hospital, where they were treated for non- life-threatening injuries.

Police transported Ayala to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where he is being held without bond.

In the second case, HPD arrested Leodan Alejandro Jalca, 22, of Allentown, Pennsylvania. Police charged him with two counts of sexual battery against a victim that was known to him in connection with an incident that took place Sept. 11, in the 500 block of Aspen Drive.

HPD transported Jalca to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where he was released on a $3,000 bond.


Between Sept. 21-2nd 7, Town of Herndon police officers issued 102 traffic summons, including one for driving while intoxicated, nine for driving with no operator's license, and three for driving on a suspended or revoked license.

There were five reportable traffic accidents in Herndon. Virginia State Police define "reportable crashes" as those that result in $1,500 in property damage and/or injury.
